We are excited to announce that we are expanding our team and are currently seeking motivated and compassionate Part-Time and Full-Time MFT Interns (AMFTs) to join our supportive and collaborative environment.

At NHT Family Counseling, we believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship and are committed to fostering the growth of our clients and our clinicians. Our practice is rooted in a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Jungian, Gestalt, and Cognitive-Behavioral therapies, and we are looking for interns who are eager to learn and grow within this framework.

Roles and Responsibilities

As an MFT Intern at NHT Family Counseling, you will:

  • Provide individual, couples, and family therapy to clients.
  • Work with a diverse group of clientele of different demographic backgrounds.
  • Conduct intake assessments and develop treatment plans.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
  • Manage various administrative tasks for ongoing support of clients.
  • Participate in weekly individual and group supervision.
  • Co-facilitate group therapy sessions.
  • Adhere to all legal and ethical guidelines.
  • All sessions must be conducted at our offices, even if the session is via telehealth.
  • And, there are other roles and responsibilities that will be discussed upon hire.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree: Must possess a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling Psychology, or a related clinical field.
  • BBS Registration: Must be registered as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) and be in good standing (i.e. passing all required exams in a timely manner).
  • Background Check: Successful completion of a background check is required prior to the start date.
  • State Issued ID: Must possess a valid Driver’s License or State Issued ID.
  • References: Must provide 3 professional references as part of the hiring process.
  • Knowledge of Legal and Ethical Standards: Must have a strong understanding of legal and ethical responsibilities, including but not limited to HIPAA, confidentiality, and mandated reporting laws.
  • Client Hours: Must be able to maintain a minimum caseload of 10-15 client hours per week.
  • Scheduling Flexibility: Flexible scheduling is available, with the requirement to work at least one evening per week to meet client needs.
  • Core Competencies: Possess excellent communication, and interpersonal skills with a compassionate and empathetic approach to therapy.
  • NPI: Must obtain a National Provider Identifier (NPI) (we can guide you on how to do this).
